Nintendo Power teases ... Indianapolis?

How does a satellite image of Indianapolis link to imminent Nintendo news? That's the question posed by Nintendo Power's latest "Next Month" teaser. Seemingly yanked straight from Google Maps, this is one of the vaguest hints we've seen from the magazine for some time, and one that has predictably set message boards and comment threads alight.

The most popular guess we've seen concerns some kind of Google content appearing on the Wii, which doesn't sound implausible, but is that really worth building hype in this way? Other speculation ranges from a localized Disaster: Day of Crisis to a Pilotwings game to (with absolutely crushing inevitablity) Earthbound. Your speculation, show us it!

I thought that immediatly since I was born in Indianapolis but why would they be teasing a boring game like that?

It would be cool if this signified an official Nintendo store in Indianapolis, but I suppose there are bigger cities they could choose.

But everyone else is probably right, some dumb Indy racing game.

It could be some sort of event. Indianapolis holds a lot of conventions because of its central location in the country and rather nice convention center. That is the only reason I ever go to Indianapolis anyway.

How is this more vague than the image of the moon, that supposedly had the name of the game written in there?

Well, several things came instantly to mind when I personally saw the Moon teaser: Moon, Castlevania, Harvest Moon (at a stretch). But a map of Indianapolis with a marker over the University of Indianapolis? Even now, I'm struggling to connect it to anything easily.

Just so you know, if you see the mag up close there's a yellow mark on it. At the point of that mark is the University of Indiana. I don't know if that's useful or part of the hint, but there you go...

There is no University of Indiana.
Indiana University is in Bloomington, not Indianapolis.

However, Indiana University and Purdue University have a cooperative campus in Indianapolis (IUPUI).

It means that Nintendo has printed so much money, its buying its own city, to be renamed Marionapolis.

I actually thought it might be one of those pictures where you stare at it long enough and some kind of 3D image pops out at you. I never was able to make those things out, though.

Has anyone even thought of maybe another racing game?!?

I'm gonna say either a NASCAR game, or GTA: Chinatown Wars. After all, they may not have meant Indianapolis specifically, just a large, sprawling city.

Yes, the yellow marker in the picture is over the University of Indianapolis. I live here in Indy, I know the area. It is a private school with no religious orientation. I would believe the article will have something to do with that location, but we shall have to see soon.

According to Wikipedia, the University of Indianapolis is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Its mascot is the greyhound, and its school colors are crimson and gray. That probably doesn't mean anything, but y'all might like to know.

Wait, that's E Hanna Avenue! It's a new Hannah Montana game! Awesome.

The pointer looks like it's pointing at the parking lot at University Heights Methodist Church.

I have a couple of ideas of why they would put a marker over a college/univerisity.

1.) As many people have said, an Indiana Jones game makes sense, as Indianapolis can be shortened to Indy, and Indiana Jones was a professor at a college.

2.) The college could be a reference to a Bully 2, which I would be very excited to hear about.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is the rounded rectangle in the upper left corner of the map and about 10 miles northeast of downtown Indy. Why point to something almost 30 miles away? If it had to do with Peyton Manning, why not point to the new stadium (the large white block on the southwest side of downtown?

There's a Bowman Ave near that mark....maybe Pit will finally make his long awaited appearance.
